How do Methods, numbering, lead-ins and findings work in Results Builder?
Overview
Results shows your results section as one paper. Include Methods adds a Methods section written from your project data and the details you give in Project Details; sections without enough information are left out. Switch it off and the paper, the Document view and the Word file have no Methods section, and Results tables are numbered from Table 1.
What to do
- Numbering is automatic. With Methods included, Table 1 is the participants table and the Results tables follow. Every figure and table keeps its order when you reorder or remove items.
- The Results introduction and each lead-in sentence are written for you from your titles and counts. Edit the text to replace it; Reset to automatic brings the written version back.
- Generate findings writes findings for every item that has none yet and never touches findings that are already there. Regenerate all rewrites every item after you confirm.
- Notes above the paper tell you about things worth a second look, such as items that repeat each other or share the same scope.
- Include memos adds the memos you choose as an appendix at the end of the Word file. It is off by default.
- A figure’s numbers are added as their own table from the same Analysis screen, not under the figure.
- The Methods heading includes information about the draft, a pencil to open Project Details, Smart Draft to prepare the text, and Method Compass to open the AI Assistant.
- The outline sits on the right of the paper and follows where you are. Switch it off with Outline in the top bar. Home, Insert, Layout and View are always shown above the paper.
- Sources and Their Labels, Evidence Matrix and Code Summary items get short sentences that count (how many sources, files, codes and written summaries). They count only and never interpret what you wrote.
