How are figures and tables numbered, and where is the data table of a figure?

Overview

Numbering is automatic and cannot be switched off. Figures and tables keep their order when you add, remove or reorder items, and with Methods included the Results tables follow the Methods tables. A figure’s numbers are not added under it: add them as their own table with Add table from the same Analysis screen.

What to do

  1. Reorder items in the paper or the outline and the numbers follow.
  2. Switch Include Methods off to number the Results tables from Table 1.
  3. Add a figure’s data as a table only when a reader needs the values, for example a journal, supervisor or appendix.
